Bobcat volleyball blasts Polar Bears for 3-0 win

DES MOINES — The Marshalltown volleyball team dismantled Des Moines North for a 3-0 sweep over the host Polar Bears (0-11) on Tuesday night in Iowa Alliance Conference action.

The Bobcats (11-14) claimed the cross-divisional contest 25-15, 25-5, 25-18.

Marshalltown’s balanced attack was led by Bella Avise and Harper Wilson, who had six kills apiece. Kinsley Bowie and Brooklyn Smith both had five kills, and setter Lauren O’Neal finished with 24 assists.

Smith, O’Neal and Kendall Brummel had two blocks apiece, while Gianna Baune led the MHS defense with six digs against North’s limited attack.

Wilson led the Bobcats at the service stripe, going 18-for-18 with one ace, while Avise was 16-for-17 with two aces. As a team, MHS served 69-for-72 with five aces.

The Bobcats take more than a week off to prepare for their next competition — the Oskaloosa Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 11.
