ISU’s Brown picked as Big 12 Player of the Week
Addy Brown
AMES — Iowa State junior women’s basketball player Addy Brown was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, while classmate Audi Crooks joined her on the league’s Starting Five following their Week 6 performances.
It marks the second career Player of the Week recognition for Brown and the fifth time this season Crooks has appeared in the Starting Five.
The duo helped Iowa State to its first 12-0 start since 2013-14 and just the fourth undefeated non-conference schedule by a Cyclone team in program history. With wins over the Iowa and Northern Iowa and an earlier win at Drake, ISU completed the sweep of its in-state foes for the first time since 2021-22.
Brown recorded back-to-back 20-point games to help No. 10 Iowa State to two wins over in-state opponents No. 11 Iowa and UNI. Against UNI, she finished with a season-high 28 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the floor and was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. She finished the week shooting nearly 55 percent from the floor and also finished with two double-doubles against the Cyclones’ in-state rivals. Her double-double count (5) is tied for 10th nationally. Brown ranked in the top three in the Big 12 for her scoring and rebounding averages this week.
Crooks led ISU with 30 points against No. 11 Iowa and added 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. She finished 13-of-20 from the floor and also tallied a block in the win. Crooks sat out of Iowa State’s contest against UNI with an injury, but is expected to return ahead of the Cyclones’ first league game.
No. 10 Iowa State hosts Kansas for its first Big 12 contest on Sunday. The Cyclones and Jayhawks tip-off on ESPN at noon in Hilton Coliseum.
