Williams, Cyclones wallop Wildcats
AMES — Five players scored in double figures as the Iowa State women’s basketball team claimed its second-straight win, slamming Arizona 90-65 on Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones (16-5, 4-5) led for all but 32 seconds in the game, lifting head coach Bill Fennelly into a tie with Kim Mulkey for the most conference wins in Big 12 history (296).
Jada Williams scored a game-high 19 points to go with seven assists in leading Iowa State against her former school. Audi Crooks had 17 points, Arianna Jackson made four 3-pointers on her way to 15 points, Sydney Harris had 14 points and Alisa Williams added 12 points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
Iowa State owned a 32-11 advantage in bench scoring.
Noelani Cornfield led Arizona (10-9, 1-7) with 19 points, and Sumayah Sugapong pitched in with 13, but the Wildcats were never a threat.
The Cyclones return to action Wednesday with a game at No. 19 Texas Tech.
