BYU breaks Iowa State’s five-game win streak
PROVO, Utah — The Iowa State women’s basketball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end Tuesday night, falling 83-69 at BYU.
After a competitive first half that left the Cyclones (19-6, 7-6 Big 12) tied or close early, BYU seized control in the third quarter, outscoring Iowa State decisively and building a lead the Cyclones were unable to overcome.
For BYU (17-8, 6-7 Big 12), Olivia Hamlin led all scorers with a career-best 23 points, and Delaney Gibb added 21 points, connecting on five 3-pointers to fuel the Cougars’ offensive efficiency. BYU shot 52 percent from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line, going 9-for-9 at the stripe.
Iowa State struggled to keep pace offensively, but Kenzie Hare’s sharpshooting provided a bright spot, as she hit five 3-pointers for a team-high 15 points. Audi Crooks led the way with 18 points and Jada Williams scored 16.
