Heiden heads Hawkeyes’ six all-conference honorees

IOWA CITY — The Big Ten Conference released its official list of women’s basketball postseason honors Tuesday, and the University of Iowa once again placed multiple players on the teams, recognizing outstanding individual seasons that helped the Hawkeyes finish 24-5 overall and 15-3 in league play.
Iowa landed six total honorees, tying its individual recognition with some of the conference’s top talent and extending program traditions of excellence. This announcement comes on the eve of the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis, where the Hawkeyes enter as the No. 2 seed.
Sophomore center Ava Heiden was named to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the league’s head coaches and media panel, becoming the 10th consecutive season that an Iowa player has earned first-team all-conference honors.
Heiden led Iowa statistically, averaging 17.6 points per game and posting a field goal percentage of 65.1%, ranking her fourth in the nation and second in the Big Ten. Her efficiency and inside scoring prowess also translated into nine double-double performances for the Hawkeyes.
Those numbers not only powered Iowa’s offense across a 29-game schedule but also showcased Heiden’s growth — she led the team in made field goals (222) and blocked shots (32), and placed second in total rebounds (224).
Senior forward Hannah Stuelke earned All-Big Ten Second Team recognition from both coaches and media. Stuelke finished the regular season as Iowa’s leading rebounder, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game while also chipping in 13.9 points per game.
She became just the seventh player in Iowa program history to surpass 1,500 career points and 850 rebounds.
Stuelke is also notable for previous honors, including being named the Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year in 2022-23 and earning second-team recognition in prior seasons.
Sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright was selected to the All-Big Ten Third Team by coaches and earned honorable mention from the media panel. Wright, a transfer in her first season with the Hawkeyes, led the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage at 46.2%, a mark that also placed her fifth nationally.
She averaged 13.9 points and 4.8 assists per game, taking over the starting point guard role and becoming a key playmaker and long-range threat.
Senior guard Kylie Feuerbach was named to the All-Defensive Team by both coaches and media, a first in her Iowa career. Feuerbach’s defensive impact included 29 steals and 11 blocks, anchoring a Hawkeye defense that held opponents to just over 65 points per game.
Freshman guard Addie Deal earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team as voted by the league’s coaches. Deal averaged 5.4 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, and distinguished herself by becoming the first Hawkeye this season to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.
Senior guard Taylor McCabe was recognized with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, honoring her leadership, conduct, and contributions on and off the court. McCabe, a steady starter in the Hawkeyes’ backcourt, ends her Iowa career tied for the best 3-point field goal percentage in school history.
Across the Big Ten, UCLA’s Lauren Betts dominated the honor roll, being named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year by both coaches and media.
Jazzy Davidson (USC) earned Freshman of the Year, and Angela Dugalić (UCLA) was named Sixth Player of the Year. Cori Close of UCLA was recognized as Coach of the Year.
Rounding out the All-Big Ten First Team by the coaches are: Berry Wallace (Illinois), Jaloni Cambridge (Ohio State), Oluchi Okananwa (Maryland), Olivia Olson and Syla Swords (Michigan), Kiki Rice (UCLA), Sayvia Sellers (Washington) and USC’s Davidson.
