ESPN starts layoffs tied to acquisition of NFL Network

ESPN is undergoing a significant round of layoffs for the first time in three years after taking over NFL Network in April. Chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a memo to employees Tuesday morning, obtained by The Associated Press, that most moves are the result of ESPN’s acquisition of NFL Network and other league digital assets last year. NEW YORK — It was a rough week for WNBA All-Stars heading into the game this weekend. Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese both were injured Sunday. PORTLAND, Ore. — A warmup jacket worn by Wilt Chamberlain during the 1972 NBA finals that was bought by a teenager for $3.07 at an Oregon thrift store sold for $89,600 at auction on Monday. IOWA CITY — The Iowa vs. Northern Iowa football game scheduled for Sept. 19 in Iowa City is officially sold out. The announcement was made Monday by the UI Athletics Department.
