North Center Street’s Iowa River Bridge beams have been placed. Construction now will focus on preparations for deck forms to eventually lead to pouring of the deck later this spring. Each beam across the span is 96 feet 4 inches long, 2 feet 10 inches wide and 3 feet tall. The weight of each beam is 31.7 tons. Deck preparation work is high enough that should a river flood event happen, no downtime is anticipated by the contractor.
