MCBD seeking downtown projects for Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant
The Marshalltown Central Business District is inviting property owners within the MCBD service area to submit projects for consideration for the 2026 Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant program.
The Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant provides matching grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 for transformative building rehabilitation projects. Eligible improvements may include façade restoration, interior commercial space renovations, upper-story housing rehabilitation, structural repairs, building system upgrades and compatible infill construction.
Because Main Street Iowa permits only one application per designated Main Street program, MCBD will conduct a local selection process to determine which project will represent Marshalltown in the statewide competition.
Property owners interested in being considered are encouraged to contact MCBD staff to discuss project concepts and eligibility. Proposed projects must be located within the MCBD service area and should demonstrate a commitment to quality design, historic preservation and economic impact through increased business, housing or job opportunities.
Interested property owners should contact MCBD no later than July 17 to allow sufficient time for project review and application preparation prior to the state application deadline of Aug. 27.
