Adoption support class meets July 19
Guiding Star Marshalltown announces a new program offering led by Sarah Trosen. This group will support families who are in the early stages of adoption or who have adopted through private, foster or kinship care. The next meeting is from 6 p.m.. to 7 p.m. on July 19 from at 2501 S. Center St., Suite M, Marshalltown.
Rooted in faith, this group will help bring the focus back to Jesus in the midst of the process, while offering support as parents navigate all aspects of adoption, including helping children process loss, the waiting seasons, attachment and trauma.
Trosen has spent the last 15 years serving as a Children and Family Pastor. She is a mom of three, all added to her family through adoption; giving her both professional experience and a deeply personal understanding of the journey. Trosen has a B.A. in Youth and Family Ministry from Vennard College, she is a licensed pastor with the Church of the Nazarene and she is a member of the planting team for Restore Church in Marshalltown.
Trosen said, “I love creating space for connection, learning (especially about Jesus) and meaningful friendships.” When not working, Trosen enjoys the outdoors, reading, baking or spending weekends cheering on her family at basketball and football games.
Lindi Trowbridge, executive director said, “Guiding Star Marshalltown is very pleased to add this new offering to our variety of programs which strengthen families and individuals. Be watching for this and other announcements on all the media sites, as well as Facebook and the Chamber’s Event Page.”
