Come for a family-friendly evening exploring the fascinating world of bats in Iowa at 8:30 p.m. on July 31 at Timmons Grove Shelter House.

Learn about local species, their behaviors and why they’re vital to healthy ecosystems. Conservation staff will take a guided hike and use acoustic monitors to detect and identify bats by their echolocation calls, a unique way to experience these nocturnal animals in action.

All ages are welcome as the group discovers how bats help control insects, support agriculture and how people can protect them.
