Marshall County Emergency Management Specialist Matthew Vogeler announces that Marshall County Emergency Management has been awarded two separate grants from Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel.
Prairie Meadows has awarded the City of Albion a grant totaling $9,165.22 to support the purchase of a new tornado siren. Albion's current siren has reached the end of its service life and recently became non-functional, making this funding both timely and essential for maintaining community safety.
This award is especially meaningful, as it is the first time either organization has applied for and received grant funding from Prairie Meadows.
The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency announces that Prairie Meadows has awarded $10,000 to support the purchase of a cache of portable radios. These radios will be deployed during large-scale incidents such as structure fires, grass fires or disaster events where additional communication capability is essential. This equipment will serve as a shared resource available to any agency within Marshall County, enhancing interoperability and improving response efficiency during critical operations.
This award is especially meaningful, as it represents only the second grant the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency has received from Prairie Meadows. Marshall County appreciates their partnership in strengthening portable radio communications across the county and supporting its mission to improve public safety.
