The Marshall County Pachyderm Forum will be held at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds Big Top Tent from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 10. In keeping with the “Ag Day” fair theme, the Marshall County GOP has scheduled two candidates who will have statewide and national impact on the future of Iowa agriculture including family farms, property rights, economic development in rural communities, ag-related business and services.

At 11:15 a.m., Lt. Governor candidate Derek Wulf, a 4th generation native Iowa farmer/rancher who lives with his family near Hudson will introduce himself to the group and present his past legislative goals and new role as part of the Zach Lahn team. Wulf is a graduate of Iowa State University with previous experience as a swine management specialist for Cargill. He currently represents House District 76 in the Iowa Legislature and is Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. He is a strong advocate of farmer’s “Right to Repair” and eminent domain rights.

At 12 p.m., U,S. 4th Congressional District candidate Chris McGowan, a 5th generation native Iowa veteran, lawyer and economic development expert with family ties to rural Iowa farming who lives with his family in Sioux City will discuss his career of more than 20 years service with The Siouxland Initiative (A non-profit regional development group totally funded by memberships) and the tri-state Siouxland Chamber of Commerce (IA, NE, S. Dak). McGowan graduated with a double major in political science and business administration from St. John’s University (MN), and Ave Maria Law School in Ann Arbor, Mich. During law school he worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Eastern Michigan. He currently serves as president of both TSI and the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. He will present his policy proposals for an America First, Iowa Always agenda: creating a strong and robust economy, eliminating wasteful spending, securing the southern border, supporting the Armed Forces and national defense and protecting Iowa’s traditional values. These include small business, family farms, strong work ethic and property rights.

Pachyderm Forums are open to all persons. The Big Top Tent is just inside the Fairgrounds main entrance off the parking lot. Parking and entrance are free. The entrance road to the Fair Main Entrance is just east of the junction of East Olive Street and South 12th Avenue north of the Fisher Governor Road Plant. Water and snacks will be available.
