Reiman Gardens welcomes Baby Gnome to join Elwood
AMES — Reiman Gardens will unveil a new addition to its gnome family: a four-foot-tall concrete Baby Gnome, joining Elwood, “The World’s Largest Concrete Gnome,” at an unveiling ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on July 9.
For more than 15 years, Elwood has drawn hundreds of thousands of visitors as one of Iowa’s most recognizable roadside attractions. Now he’ll share the spotlight with a smaller companion, fitting for Reiman Gardens’ 2026 “Big and Small” theme.
“The arrival of Baby Gnome perfectly captures the spirit of our ‘Big and Small’ theme,” said Andrew Gogerty, marketing and communications manager at Reiman Gardens. “Visitors have loved Elwood for years, and we’re excited to give them another memorable reason to visit, laugh and create new family memories.”
To celebrate, Reiman Gardens is hosting a “Gname the Gnome Contest.” Guests can submit name ideas beginning July 10, through an online form or a submission box near the front desk. Submissions will be accepted through July 31. Staff will select the winning name.
Baby Gnome arrives during a full summer season that includes the Big and Small outdoor sculpture exhibition by Tork Collaborative Arts, the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing and ongoing family programming and special events.
Baby Gnome is on display daily during regular admission hours. For tickets, memberships and event details, visit the Reiman Gardens website.
