Remix Dance Academy fundraiser to be held July 18 at Happy Tails
Remix Dance Academy is a non-profit institution that fundraises throughout the year to offset tuition costs for the dancers and their families. They also fundraise to make improvements to their facility to better accommodate the growing number of participants.
On Saturday, July 18, starting at 8:30 a.m. Happy Tails will be open to the public to wash dogs for a free will donation that will benefit Remix and their goals. Up to date vaccination papers are required. Nail trimming will be available for $15, this cost will also go to Remix. Owners are welcome to help or just wait and we will happily scrub the dogs. Happy Tails has hosted charity dog washes in the past for a number of causes and have raised varying amounts. $700 was raised to install a wheelchair ramp for a Marshalltown community member, other fundraisers benefited school groups and raised $500+ each time. Every amount helps and the support will go a very long way towards supporting dancers and their experiences.
Remix serves anyone who wants to dance regardless of ability to pay or the skills needed to dance. Many of the families rely on Remix for a social space, a welcoming space and a safe space for their children to grow and learn. They don’t just dance at Remix. They offer friendship, support when needed and an outlet for some students to simply be themselves without judgement or pressure. Dance helps children express themselves, build confidence, and manage emotions, reducing stress and boosting self-esteem. One of the goals they have this year is to improve the space for the special needs dancers and become wheelchair accessible. They also want to install a shower for students to utilize before or after classes.
