Ridiculous Day returns to Downtown Marshalltown on July 25
The Marshalltown Central Business District is announcing the return of Ridiculous Day to downtown Marshalltown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 25.
After a temporary relocation last year due to construction, Ridiculous Day will once again take place in the heart of downtown, centered around the Downtown Marshalltown Event Plaza and surrounding streets. The event will feature many of the traditions community members have come to expect, including sidewalk sales, family-friendly activities, local vendors, food trucks and special promotions from downtown businesses.
Vendor and food truck recruitment is ongoing, and MCBD is currently accepting applications from artisans, makers, small businesses, community organizations, nonprofits and food vendors interested in participating. Ridiculous Day provides an opportunity to connect with hundreds of community members during one of downtown Marshalltown’s signature summer events. Vendors offering handcrafted goods, specialty products, services, family-friendly activities and unique shopping experiences are encouraged to apply. Interested vendors can contact MCBD at director@marshalltownmainstreet.org or 641-844-2001 for application information.
This year’s event will also mark the return of live entertainment to Ridiculous Day. Trevor Parish will perform from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by So Hard Band from noon to 2 p.m.
Activities throughout the day will provide opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages to explore downtown, support local businesses and enjoy a fun summer day in Marshalltown.
A First Responders Block is also being planned and will feature participation from several local public safety organizations, giving community members an opportunity to connect with those who serve Marshall County. A dedicated Kids Block will offer games, activities and family-friendly entertainment throughout the event.
MCBD is encouraging downtown businesses to participate by hosting sidewalk sales, special promotions, demonstrations or other activities that help create a vibrant and engaging experience for visitors. Businesses with planned activities are encouraged to contact MCBD so those efforts can be included in event promotions.
Ridiculous Day has long been one of downtown Marshalltown’s signature summer traditions, bringing together residents, businesses and visitors for a day of shopping, entertainment and community celebration.
MCBD is also currently seeking event sponsors to help support entertainment, activities and event operations. Businesses or organizations interested in sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to contact Executive Director Danielle Lekin at director@marshalltownmainstreet.org or 641-844-2001.
Additional event details, vendor information and activity announcements will be shared as they
become available through MCBD’s website and social media channels.
