Senior Farmers Market vouchers still available

WATERLOO — Older Iowans still have time to apply for Senior Farmers Market vouchers through Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging. The vouchers help eligible participants purchase farm-fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey at participating farmers markets and other approved locations now through Oct. 31.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides qualified adults age 60 and older with vouchers that may be used at farmers markets, roadside stands and community-supported agriculture programs for fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown produce, herbs and honey.

To be eligible for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, participants must:

• Be age 60 or older at the time of application, born in or before 1966

• Live in the service area of Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging

• Have a gross household income, before taxes, of no more than $29,526 for a household of one or $40,034 for a household of two

Each eligible participant receives 10 vouchers valued at $50 total. Participants may receive vouchers once per program year. Call 800-779-8707 today to request an application.
