Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force Partners with MADD Iowa for “Saturation Saturday”

On August 29th, the Marshalltown Police Department in accordance with our membership into the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force are joining forces with Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) Iowa and 23 other agencies for "Saturation Saturday," a powerful state- and nationwide initiative to fight impaired driving ahead of Labor Day weekend. This coordinated effort aims to save lives by intensifying impaired driving enforcement during one of the year's busiest travel periods, in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign.

The Marshalltown Police Department will be increasing our impaired driving traffic safety enforcement efforts on Saturation Saturday, August 29, 2026, to save lives and prevent injuries. The Marshalltown Police Department is one of 24 law enforcement agencies throughout Iowa participating in this effort to protect our community against impaired driving.

CITSTF is a multi-disciplinary collaboration with state, county, and municipal organizations from nine central Iowa counties with a primary focus of reducing traffic fatalities, vehicle-related injuries, and economic costs related to unsafe driving habits. On July 17th, 2025 Marshalltown Police Chief Christopher Jones presented a resolution to the Marshalltown City Council for approving an agreement with CITSTF pursuant to Chapter 28E.12 of the Iowa State Code. Membership into CITSTF allows the Marshalltown Police Department to expand resources in achieving similar goals as CITSTF in our own jurisdiction and other jurisdictions through collaborative traffic projects. The Marshalltown City Council passed the resolution unanimously, making the Marshalltown Police Department an official member of CITSTF.
