DES MOINES -- The Des Moines Symphony will bring two free concerts to Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park over Labor Day Weekend, offering audiences the chance to enjoy live music under the open sky with friends and family.
Part of the Symphony's beloved summer concert tradition, Water Works Pops pairs the excitement of a full symphony orchestra with popular music and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy food and drinks from local food trucks while taking in two unique programs designed for audiences of all ages.
• 7 Bridges: The Symphonic Eagles Experience
On Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. the Des Moines Symphony will be joined by 7 Bridges, a rock band hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as "The best Eagles tribute band on earth" for an unforgettable night celebrating the music of one of America's most iconic rock bands.
Known for stunningly accurate renditions of Eagles classics and fan favorites, 7 Bridges will perform alongside the Symphony for a symphonic take on songs including "Hotel California," "Desperado," "One of These Nights," "Life in the Fast Lane" and more. From soaring orchestral arrangements to timeless rock anthems, 7 Bridges: The Symphonic Eagles Experience offers fans a chance to experience the Eagles' music in an entirely new way.
• Cinematic Magic: Family Festival & Concert
On Sept. 6, Water Works Park will transform into a destination for families with Cinematic Magic: Family Festival & Concert. The free Family Festival begins at 4 p.m., followed by the concert at 5:30 p.m.
The afternoon will feature activities for children and families, food trucks and a variety of community partners in the Symphony's Children's Village. Audiences will then embark on a musical journey through some of the most memorable moments in film, with orchestral favorites that transport listeners through fantastical worlds.
Participating community organizations include the Des Moines Children's Museum, Des Moines Public Library, Des Moines Botanical Garden, Living History Farms, Animal Rescue League, Des Moines Metro Opera, Heartland Youth Choir, B.WELL Foundation, Pied Piper, the After School Arts Program and Des Moines Symphony Academy.

"Whether you’re a lifelong symphony fan, an Eagles enthusiast or a family looking for a fun afternoon together, there's something for everyone."
Both Water Works Pops concerts are free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of Linda and Tom Koehn. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
