MARSHALLTOWN, a privately held global leader in construction tools and equipment, recently announced it will be hosting the 2026 Iowa Regional SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 competition at its headquarters in Marshalltown on Oct. 1.
The event, organized by TCC Materials, will bring together talented masons from across the state, showcasing their speed, skill and stamina as they compete for a chance at the World Championship. Masons will have just one hour to build a 26-foot-long wall laying as many bricks as possible while maintaining exceptional quality.
"This competition showcases the incredible skill, discipline and craftsmanship of our region's masonry professionals," said Brian DiGrado, senior vice president and general manager of TCC Materials. "We're proud to organize an event that supports the future of the masonry trade."
Kim Haley, a longtime member of the MARSHALLTOWN team, has been part of the Bricklayer 500 for years, helping support the event and connect with the masonry community.
"Getting out to industry events is one of the best parts of my job," said Haley, MARSHALLTOWN industry alliance and education coordinator. "I see first-hand the passion, hard work and energy these men and women put in across the trades -- not only in their daily work but also in their support through education events, mentoring and so many other avenues that encourage young people to enter a trade."
Although this will be MARSHALLTOWN's first time serving as the host site, the company has been a national sponsor for many years providing support for all -- supplying competitor swag bags, prize bags, trophies and participating at masonry education events in conjunction with the regional competitions.
The event is open to the public, giving spectators a chance to experience the fast-paced action up close. It is also a great opportunity for community members to learn more about the masonry trade, connect with industry professionals and support Iowa talent.
