Marshalltown Parks & Recreation is inviting local youth to bring the energy, enthusiasm and school spirit to the court this fall through the Youth Basketball Cheerleading Program.
Designed as an instructional program, Youth Basketball Cheerleading gives participants the opportunity to learn cheers, spirit routines and the fundamentals of cheering while supporting youth basketball teams during Sunday games. The program also encourages important life skills, including leadership, teamwork and positive encouragement.
Participants will practice on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 21 through Nov. 9, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 10 W. State St. Games will take place on Sundays from Oct. 18 through Nov. 15, with one game each week scheduled between noon and 5 p.m. Practices and games will be held at the Coliseum, using the West entrance.
The cost to participate is $45, which includes a program t-shirt.
"Cheerleading is a great way for young people to build confidence, work as a team and learn how to encourage others," said Marshalltown Recreational Supervisor, Jenni Hart. "We're excited to give local youth the opportunity to be part of the action and help create an energetic, positive atmosphere for our young basketball players."
