Dementia is a devastating condition that wreaks havoc on a person's physical, mental, emotional, social and financial well-being. There is no cure for dementia -- but by making simple lifestyle changes, people can reduce the risk of dementia by up to 70 percent.

The Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA is offering a program Keys to Dementia Prevention starting Sept. 15. In this 10-week, evidence-based program participants will learn how to eat well, exercise, get the sleep they need, stay mentally sharp and build social relationships for better overall health.

The program runs Tuesdays noon to 2 p.m. from Sept. 15 to Nov. 17 at the Y.

With questions or to get the cost for the program, contact Keisha Lockhart at keisha.lockhart@ymca-ywca.org. Register at the Y's Service Desk or call 641-752-8658.
