Each year the state of Iowa picks a side for one week leading up to the Iowa - Iowa State football game. Rivalries form between coworkers, friends and families. Half wearing black and the other half wearing cardinal.
When the game ends, both sides return to being Iowans willing to support each other. It's part of what makes Iowans great, they see the big picture and are willing to help their neighbors in times of need. Currently, local Iowa hospitals need lifesaving blood and it's time for all Iowans to come together and help.
Show team support by wearing the team's colors during a donation and the game, but show that all bleed the same color by scheduling a blood donation with LifeServe Blood Center.
Donate blood at any LifeServe Blood Center in Iowa between Sept. 10 and 11 and people will be able to show they stepped up by earning a What Color Do You Bleed shirt. Wear it with pride to show no matter what color team they cheer for, all support the local hospitals.

Also for the third year, LifeServe Blood Center is participating in the We Give Blood drive, a partnership between Abbott, the Big Ten Conference and blood centers across the country - including LifeServe Blood Center.
Fans of the Hawkeyes, Cornhuskers and all other Big Ten schools can not only donate blood at any LifeServe Blood Center mobile drive or donor center through Dec. 4 to save local lives, but also can get perks. Each donor will earn an exclusive "We Give Blood" T-shirt branded with the school of their choice, as well as count the donation for a favorite Big 10 school. The Big Ten school with the most donations will earn $1 million.
The winning school will be announced at the 2026 Discover Big Ten Football Championship Game on Dec. 5. A live leaderboard will track donations in real time at BigTen.org/Abbott.
