AMES -- The Workspace at the Memorial Union has new drop-in crafts during October to start your fall season. The hours are 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday through the end of November. Everyone is welcome at The Workspace.
• Trinket Art Drop-in Craft
Turn a plain object into a curated collection of tiny treasures. Choose from beads, charms, tiny toys, game pieces, junk jewelry, Hot Wheels, miniature animals, and other eclectic odds and ends to assemble a maximalist design. All ages welcome with an accompanying adult, now through Oct. 9.
• Vinyl Record Painting Drop-in Craft
Browse through the crate of old vinyl and use paint or acrylic markers to turn a record into a piece of wall art. All ages welcome with an accompanying adult, now through Oct. 17.
• Paint Your Own Pottery: Cutie Kawaii Week
Embrace all things cute this week from Oct. 5-10. All ages welcome with an accompanying adult. Price varies depending on what you choose.
• Paint Your Own Pottery: $10 Mug Week -- Paint a new cup for that daily caffeine fix from Oct. 12-17.
• Halloween Felt Plushie Keychain Drop-in Craft
Pick felt, grab some scissors and stitch up a mini Halloween sidekick from Oct. 15-31. No sewing experience needed. Choose a pattern for a ghost, cat, skull, or monster. All ages welcome with an accompanying adult.
• Paint Your Own Pottery: Sweater Weather Week
Get cozy in The Workspace and paint cocoa mugs, soup bowls, pumpkins and gourds. Embrace the fall season's spooky skulls, scary spiders, and Frankenstein monsters. Drop in Oct. 19-24.
• Paint Your Own Pottery: Dungeons and Dragons Week
All ages welcome with an accompanying adult. Drop in Oct. 26-31.
