2026 State Fair Straw Poll results

DES MOINES — Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announced the results of the unscientific Iowa State Fair Straw Poll. The poll, which closed Sunday at 8 p.m., allowed fairgoers to cast a preference for candidates for the 2026 gubernatorial, senatorial and congressional races. DMU hosts annual Pre-Health Summit for high school students

WEST DES MOINES — Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences invites high school students to a free Pre-Health Summit from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17. The interactive virtual event is designed for students who are interested in exploring what it means to be a health sciences professional. ‘Bump to Baby’ pregnancy support is Thursday

Guiding Star Marshalltown will host “Bump to Baby,” a pregnancy support group from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 at its center located at 2501 S. Center St., Suite M.
