Hunter Education program opens registration for fall courses

DES MOINES — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources offers more than 200 Hunter Education courses per year and now is the time to begin finding one. Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to firearms safety and several other life-long skills that are important to the many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. Sunrise Hike is Aug. 11

Join Marshall County Conservation at 6 a.m. on Aug. 11 at the Iowa River Wildlife Area, 2503 Sand Road, Marshalltown, for a program that encourages people to start the morning with a hike in a county park. Research has shown that people who exercise in the morning are more active throughout the day. Come for a brisk hike, bring those binoculars to spot birds or take a leisurely stroll for some fresh air. MCCB staff will be there to answer any questions people might have. Participants should dress appropriately and wear sturdy footwear. There is no charge for this event.
