Major, Johnson named to 2nd-team all-CIML

A duo of seniors from the Marshalltown High School girls soccer team were selected to the CIML Iowa all-conference squads.

McKenna Major and Victoria Johnson each earned their first selection to the second team, as both were named as honorable mentions a season ago.

Major led the Bobcats (2-12, 0-5) in goals this season with four, her second-straight year leading Marshalltown in scoring. Her total goals tied for 10th in the conference, and she converted one of two penalty kicks taken this season.

Johnson finished second in the conference in saves this year with 128, and all of those saves came with only 820 minutes played. By comparison, Mason City freshman Jadyn Sheimo had 166 saves this year in 1,120 minutes, and Urbandale’s Rachel Vander Hart — a first-team selection — had 100 saves in 1,085 minutes.

Five Bobcats were given honorable mentions: seniors Naomi Boland and Trinity See, junior Isabel Ibarra, and sophomores Aida Almanza and Jade Tejada.
