Dean Fisher’s “non-response”

The response filed by Rep. Dean Fisher to the ethics complaint reads like no response at all. It is 6 sentences long. He attacks the author of the complaint, Iowa CCI and its President, Barb Kalbach. He falsely states that the complaint states that he violated the House Code of Ethics by “upholding a campaign promise to my constituents.” Nothing in the House Code of Ethics says you can not fulfill your campaign promises if elected. I was going to respond to three articles in the T.R., but after the recent extremely dangerous decision by the U.S. Supreme Court, I am wrestling with the avalanche of divisions that are plaguing America and the world. Celebrating Ag Week

March 17-23 is Ag Week, which is a time to recognize contributions of agriculture to all of our daily lives. Farmers are now beginning this year’s planting season. Planting is time sensitive, resulting in long days and increased risk of accidents. Please have patience when encountering the large, slow-moving equipment and perhaps offer a prayerful thought for the farmers who are at the start of the value chain producing the food on your table, the fiber in your clothing and shelter, and the fuel in your vehicle.

When will compromise be considered?

Thank you for detailed coverage of the Feb. 27 Marshalltown Public Library board meeting. Prior to that meeting, in an open Letter to the Editor dated Feb. 25, addressed to the MPL board members, I asked one of them (T. Gaffney, J. Lindholm, M. Lyons, R Morrison, A. Beek, E Hall, K. Pink) to add an item to the Feb. 27 meeting agenda regarding a proposed compromise that would both save face for the library admin. and enable library patrons equal access to The Epoch Times newspaper and The American Rifleman magazine, which has been requested over a period of 17 months.
