The Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team scored its first win of the season by beating Iowa Central on Tuesday at the MCC campus, 3-0. The Tigers (1-2) scored all three of their goals in the first half, including two for Matoi Yanagisawa. Ran Inosaka added a third tally before halftime as MCC netted its first goals of the season. MCC goalkeeper Torai Matsumoto stopped all three shots he faced, while Iowa Central’s Lautaro Real made two saves on five shots on goal. The loss was the first for the visiting Tritons (1-1). Two days after the Southeastern Conference passed a rule barring players from returning to the league from the pros, a Texas judge put that rule on hold Thursday in a case involving more than 40 players. IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — The Drake men’s basketball team will play in the inaugural Snake River Invitational from the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Nov. 27-29. Also participating in the four-team event will be Boise State, North Dakota State and North Texas. NFL ends Pro Bowl game, but players will still be recognized

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ATLANTA — The Pro Bowl is no more, the NFL announced Wednesday, ending an exhibition of the league’s top players that was held in some form almost every year since 1951. The game wasn’t played in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that was the only pause in the postseason event. “It’s OK to be the first league to walk away from a competitive all-star game,” NFL executive vice president Peter O’Reilly said at the owners’ meeting in Atlanta.
