Harmon — 65th

Wendell and Bonnie Harmon, of Sunrise Beach, Texas, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 27. They were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Aug. 27, 1951, in Marshalltown. They are the parents of Wendy Harmon (Randy) Allen, Tim (Debbie) Harmon, Scott (Terri) Harmon and Jodie Harmon (Bobby) Coursey. Mr. and Mrs. Harmon have 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, living in Iowa, Texas, California, Nevada, Idaho and Scotland.

The Harmons built a home together in Albion in 1950 and lived there to raise their family. They moved from that home to Sunrise Beach, Texas, in September 2014 living in their home in Albion for 64 years. They were active in their community, in the Albion Volunteer Fire Department, in their children’s schools and in the Albion Methodist Church. Mr. Harmon was a WWII veteran who served in the Army Air Corp. Wendell was employed at the Harmon Standard Service Station for 14 years and for Standard Oil Agencies for 30 years. Bonnie was employed as a para-professional for the Marshalltown School District for 24 years.

The children of Wendell and Bonnie invite friends and family to join them at an open house luncheon following worship at the 1st Baptist Church of Sunrise Beach, Texas. The luncheon will take place at 12:30 p.m., Sept. 20 at the church’s fellowship hall at 606 Ranch Road 2233, Sunrise Beach Village, Texas, 78643.

In lieu of gifts, the family is requesting a card shower for Wendell and Bonnie. Cards may be sent to Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Harmon at 207 Beach Drive, Sunrise Beach, Texas, 78643.
