Childhood friends, high school sweethearts, Lee Vial and MaryJo Martens were wed Aug. 29, 1965, during college years.

Careers led them to lasting friendships in the communities of Carroll, Spencer and since 1980 in Marshalltown.

They are the parents of Vicki (David Miller), Valari (Pat Beurskens) and Scott Vial (Betsy) and have six grandchildren.

In celebration of their 50th anniversary, the family recently enjoyed an Alaskan cruise. An anniversary dance will be held when Lee and MaryJo return to their winter home in Meza, Ariz.

The Vials feel blessed with friendship shown through cards and well wishes celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
