Lioness award perfect attendance certificates

The Marshalltown Lioness held its July meeting at the First United Church of Christ on Monday with President Dianne Maile presiding. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and Martha Fisher leading the singing of “God Bless America.”

Following the salad supper provided by Lioness Fisher and her July meal committee, President Maile presided at the business meeting.

Lioness Finance Co-chair Edith Podhajsky reported that we will be selling Fruit pie slices at the July 15 Linn Creek Arts Festival. We will continue to take orders for Colorado peaches for $28 per lug until Aug. 7. Orders can be taken by any Lioness. The pickup date will be on Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 811 E Main.

Meals on Wheels will be delivered by Kathy Sievers and Kaye Burke on Aug. 15.

Secretary Sievers distributed 11 perfect attendance certificates for fiscal year 2016-17 to the following: Dianne Maile (26 years), Dianna Freiboth (16 years), Charlotte McGinty (16 years), Podhajsky (14 years), Dessa Hattenfield (5 years), Margaret Kroener (5 years), Lou Benskin (4 years), Mary Bryant (2 years), Dorothy Cahill (2 years), Bob Maile (2 years), Sievers (2 years). In addition, five-year perfect attendance pins were awarded to Hattenfield and Kroener.

Lioness of the year Charm and Lioness Award Pin (for 100% President) was awarded to Bob Maile, and 100% Secretary Award Pin to Sievers.

Tailtwister Bev Ruopp honored those with July birthdays, and quizzed the members on their recent enjoyment of summertime foods and activities and then challenged them on how well they remembered the facts of when the Founding Fathers bravely participated in the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Following the meeting Fisher led some party games with the members which included the sharing of childhood memories.

The next meeting will be held on Aug. 14.
