Search and rescue dogs program at Chapter MJ

P.E.O. Chapter MJ met at 7 p.m. on May 6 for its regular meeting at the home of Joan Johnson. Chris Melde served as co-hostess. Plans for the Iowa State Convention and the International Convention were discussed. President Jennifer McGill will attend the P.E.O. State Convention in Des Moines on June 1-2.

Guest speaker, Marsha Patterson, owner and handler of a German Shephard and a blood hound spoke about her experiences in searching for missing persons utilizing her two dogs’ skills. Much was learned about the ins and outs of search and rescue dogs and the different techniques used in searches. All of her search time and efforts are volunteer.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be June 3 at the home of Christine Isom.
