Optimists install incoming officers and directors

The Noon Optimist Club of Marshalltown held its Installation Banquet for incoming officers and directors for the 2019-20 year on Oct. 2 at Riverview Park Reunion Hall in Marshalltown. President Damon Morrison provided the welcome and invocation to start the banquet followed with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Morrison noted the last year has been successful for the Noon Optimist Club. He mentioned several areas where he expects the incoming president to continue making improvements.

Morrison presented the “James Buresh Optimist of the year award” to Jim Robinson, noting he has been a valuable asset to the Noon Optimist Club.

The “Bob Beard Community Volunteer award” was presented to Brynjar Brynjarsson and Ryan Flack. Both Brynjarsson and Flack helped make the partnership between the Noon Optimist Club and MBBYB a tremendous success. Both also had an impact in the revival of the Noon Optimist Club youth basketball tournaments, the largest fundraiser the club has each year.

Incoming President Brian Batterson looks forward to picking up where Morrison left off and predicts a strong Optimist year. Batterson is honored to hold the position of president.

He introduced the incoming officers and directors for the 2019-20 Optimist calendar year. Each officer and director serves from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2020. Incoming officers include Batterson, president; Shelly Deal, vice president; Charissa Baedke, 2nd vice president; Nathan Minkel, treasurer; Amy Pieper, secretary and Morrison, past president. Incoming directors include Brian Danielson, Jim Robinson, Greg DeSaulniers, Allen Dale, Mary Holland and Chris Jones. Bing McHone, lieutenant governor for Zone 7 of the Iowa District Optimist installed the incoming officers and directors.

The meeting concluded with the Optimist Creed. The public is invited to attenda meeting, guests are always welcomed. Lunch meetings take place at noon every Thursday at the Orpheum, second floor boardroom. Visit the website www.marshalltownnoonoptimist.com.
