VFW Auxiliary hosts annual Christmas party

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Post 839 met on Dec. 14, at the Post home. The meeting started at 5 p.m. There were 16 members present.

Connie Kennelley, president, conducted the meeting according to the ritual. The Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. The November minutes were read and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was filed for audit.

The Money March was conducted. Prayer was said for the children at the VFW National Home for Children.

Correspondence was from the Bob Popp, the Iowa Veteran’s Home, Camp Courageous and the VFW National Home for Children. Kennelley distributed papers for Cancer Grants, Disaster applications and to receive Quilts of Valor. She also had applications to get a brick placed at the Capital in Des Moines.

Weighted Blankets will be made from 9 a.m. to noon each Monday at Post 839.

Dues were received for four members from Kennelley, Diedra Taylor and Deb Miller. Kennelley closed the meeting according to the ritual.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 21, 2020.
