Lioness learn about the Evening Lions’ 50th anniversary

The Marshalltown Lioness held its Jan. 13 meeting at the First United Church of Christ beginning with a meal furnished by four Lioness. The prayer before the meal was led by Edith Podhajsky.

Dessa Hattenfield, president, presided at the meeting. Correspondence was read from UnityPoint Hospital asking for volunteer greeters. Tailtwister Bev Ruopp told a cute joke and then had a drawing for a door prize with Mary Bryant drawn as the winner.

Guest Tim Fienup from the Evening Lions presented information about its 50th Anniversary Party/Fundraiser to be held on April 18 at the Marshalltown American Legion Post #46 Lounge, with Social time from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a dinner catered by Smokin’ G’s.

Following the anniversary dinner, a Trivia Fundraising Contest will begin at 8 p.m. Anyone who enjoys trivia is invited to form a team of 4-6 people to compete in this fun fundraiser. Funds raised will be divided in thirds for the American Legion, Lions Clubs International and Juvenile Diabetes. There will be $50 and $25 cash prizes for Trivia Team winners. Team members will receive a free drink and snacks. There will be for $5 “Mulligans” for sale for the teams to buy and use on some of the harder trivia questions.

Reservations along with payments are due by April 10 — space is limited. Meals are $20 each and Trivia Team entry fees are $40 per team. Spouses or guests are invited to the Feb. 10 Lioness meeting which will include a Valentine party. The meeting closed with the Lioness prayer.
