Quilt of Valor program presented at Spinning Wheel Chapter

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO Jane Linnenbrink displays some of the Quilts of Valor for her program to the Spinning Wheel Chapter of NSDAR.

The Spinning Wheel Chapter of National Society Daughters of American Revolution met Sept. 13 at The Embers. There were nine members and two guests present.

Jane Linnenbrink gave the program about Quilts of Valor. She showed quilts she had made and explained how the QOV Foundation works.

As the Quilts of Valor web site explains: “A Quilt of Valor is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand-quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”

To use the term Quilt of Valor, Quilts of Valor or QOV, the quilt must be a specific size, must have a label with required information, it must be awarded (it is not a gift) and it must be recorded.”

After the program Regent Emilie Freiberg opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Americans Creed. Chaplin Michelle Ankrum gave the opening prayer. Reports from various committees were given.

Hostesses were Janice Juchems and Diane Hobson. The October meeting will be held Oct. 18 at The Embers. Hostesses for October will be Linda Schaper and Mary Thomas.

Starting at $4.38/week.
