Business meeting held by VFW Auxiliary

The VFW Auxiliary Unit 839 held the January meeting on Jan. 28. Seven members were in attendance. President Theresa Shepherd opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. followed by the opening ceremonies. Opening praying was led by chaplain Donna Mitchem. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by Patriotic Instructor Kay Bell. Committee reports were as follows. Carol Ewalt reported she had sent 2,460 stamps to Stamps for the Wounded. She also had sent two veteran’s Birthday cards at Iowa Veterans Home. Diane Welch reported she had cut out 893 coupons to give to the American Auxiliary for veterans. ...

P.E.O. Chapters JU & LT merge

The P.E.O. Members of Chapter JU and LT have merged into Chapter JU-LT with 48 members on Monday, January 20, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Members attended from Marshalltown Chapters BB, MJ, and NU and State Center CF who are in the Marshalltown Reciprocity Group. P.E.O. members from out of town were Iowa P.E.O. State Officers who helped organize the merger since August 2024 also attended. Rachel Buresh, Decorah, Chapter GO, Iowa P.E.O. Herring speaks to Spinning Wheel chapter

The Spinning Wheel chapter of NSDAR met on Jan. 18 at the Embers. There were nine members and one guest present. Regent Cathy Hanson opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the American’s Creed. Chaplin Michelle Ankrum lead the Ritual. A short business meeting was held. Emily Herring, director of the Marshall County Conservation Board, gave the program on Marshall County Conservation news. Timmons Grove received a bathroom and shower house in 2024. Federation of Women’s Clubs January Board Meeting

The first meeting of the Marshalltown Federation of Women’s Clubs Board Meeting was held Jan. 9, at 9:30 a.m., at Binford House with Amy Feisel, president, presiding with 10 members present. Organizing board committees and efforts for the year took place. New elected members of Kathy Deines, Pete Grady, Deb Johnson and Carol McInroy were welcomed. Emergency Food box receives donation from Evening Lions
