LAUREL — The Harold McBroom Laurel American Legion Auxiliary Post number 635 met at the Laurel Legion Home with six members present. LaDonna Runner, president, called the meeting to order. Laura Tribby opened the meeting with prayer. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, stood in silence for POWs, MIAs and deceased veterans. LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary met at 1:30 p.m. on June 9 at the home of Sharon Hatch in Whitten. President Hatch called the meeting to order, chaplain pro-tem Sharmon Norris gave opening devotions. A moment of silence was observed for the MIA/POW and deceased veterans, followed by Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble. The secretary read minutes of previous meeting, minutes were approved. The Ave Maria Study Club held a luncheon at the Tremont on June 10 for the final meeting of the 2021-22 year and will resume meetings in September. Rose Ann Jero led a prayer before the meal and conducted a short business meeting after the meal. Acting President Jero welcomed back President Ann Ramsdall who has been unable to be active due to a lengthy illness. TIMES-REPUBLICAN Special guests of Iowa ET, the National TTT Society, at its recent meeting were Asa and Ruth, the two 10-year-old girls who have been chosen as the chapter’s TTT campers this year. Sue Cope and Bev Hatcher, camp co-chairs, introduced the girls, as well as the grandmother of one camper, and they asked members to help get the girls ready for camp, Aug. 7-13, at the Des Moines YMCA Camp, Boone.
