Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 apparently will operate its 2022-23 year with mostly the same officers as the past two terms. Rob Shepherd, commander of Harry C. Harter Post was again nominated along with his staff in first and second call concluding Tuesday’s March meeting. Third and final call comes at the April 19 meeting. The 16 members in attendance processed a wide list of other items, including fundraisers such as the 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on April 1 public fish fry and potential tip nights. VFW Auxiliary holds February meeting

The February 2022 general membership meeting of the VFW Auxiliary Post 839 met at the post home on Feb. 17. The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Vice President Judy Schiebel, followed by opening ceremonies according to ritual. There was a total of six members; of which five were officers. The opening prayer was given by Linda Fuller in the absence of Chaplain Liz Polkiweicz. Secretary Deb Miller read the January minutes. Marshalltown VFW airs ongoing topics

Marshalltown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 839 processed a number of business topics during the Feb. 15 monthly session. The post charter was draped in memory of Allan Packer, a World War II Army Air Force pilot whose plane was downed and he became a POW in Germany. He died on Feb. 5, 2022. Among decisions taken by Harry C. Harter Post veterans was approval for Russ Paul of Timber Creek Enterprise Inc. to provide new counter tops in VFW facilities meeting local restaurant codes. Valentines made for P.E.O. Chapter LT members

P.E.O. Chapter LT met Feb. 7 at the library with Rhonda Miller, president, presiding and nine members present. Miller read her president’s letter of the chapter’s 2021-22 year’s activities. They will continue to present to a 2022 female high school graduate a $500 scholarship.
