Liscomb Auxiliary discusses fall plans

LISCOMB — Liscomb Legion Auxiliary Unit 87 met on Aug. 29 at the home of Vickie Penner in Liscomb. Roll call was answered by five ladies. Pres. Sharon Hatch called meeting to order. Chaplain Dorothy Sorensen gave opening prayer. All recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble. Minutes of June meeting were read and approved. Treasurers report was given, no bills presented. Hatch discussed the Sept. 16 Fall Auxiliary Conference to be held at the Liscomb Community Center. Rolls and coffee will be served. American Legion Auxiliary has full schedule

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 46 has been busy. The group hosted several concessions at the Marshalltown Fairgrounds during craft shows. The proceeds are returned to veterans and the community. Several donations were made to the Iowa Veterans Home, one to support the Little League Baseball Field Restoration project. An ALA banner will be proudly represented on the fence at the restored ballfield. Second, the Unit purchased four roasters to support facility-wide events and family functions at IVH. P.E.O. Chapter LT initiates new member

P.E.O. Chapter LT initiated Ellen Youds on Aug. 7 at the Presbyterian Church. President Lisa Koester presided over the initiation and meeting with 13 members present. Cindy Park, a volunteer member of the Marshalltown Central Business District presented the program Downtown Business Development. This non-profit organization with Director Deb Millizer plans and executes ideas to encourage economy, design and promotion of the downtown area. Twelve members of Chapter JU of the P.E.O. Sisterhood attended the Aug. 7 meeting at the home of Ann Isgrig. President Isgrig held a business meeting followed by a sharing and learning activity. State visitor will attend the next meting to be held Aug. 17 at the home of Marlys Smith; members are encouraged to attend.
