The Ave Maria Study Club met at 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the Madonna Room at St. Henry Church. The meeting started with praying the Rosary for members’ intentions, including prayers for the four youth from the community who lost their lives in the tragic car accident recently, as well as for families and friends, and for the priests from St. Francis Parish, that they be given the strength needed to lead and bring comfort to these families and friends in their grief. The October 2022 general membership meeting of the VFW Auxiliary Post 839 met at the post home on Oct. 20. The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. by President Liz Polkiewicz, followed by the opening ceremonies according to the ritual. There were nine members present and one visitor. Chaplain Donna Mitchem gave the opening prayer. The September minutes and General Orders were read. The minutes stood approved as read. There was no general correspondence. The Marshall County Retired School Personnel Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the Marshalltown Public Library. Gary Bryant will present a program about the Marshalltown Emergency Food Box. The program will be followed by a brief business meeting.
