• Zachary Warren Ragsdale made an initial appearance on two counts of a probation violation charge. Dusty Clements is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 9. Ragsdale is being held without bond.

• Phillip Randell Dunston made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts-bodily injury charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on May 30. Bond is set at $1,000 cash.

• Frank Herbert Stowe Calderon Jr. made an initial appearance on an interference with official acts charge and a public intoxication charge. Stowe Calderon pleaded guilty to both charges and the fine is $355 with a $53.25 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $468.25.

• Anthony Ivan Garcia made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Mark Torche is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 18.

• Ramon Alberto Santos De La Cruz made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of probation charge. The probation revocation hearing is set for 2 p.m. on July 9. Santos De La Cruz is being held without bond.

• Tevin Sage Meetoos made an initial appearance on a possession of a controlled substance-marijuana-first offense charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on June 9. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.

Accidents

• On Monday, May 19, an SUV driven by Krista Lynn Snow, 42, of Tama, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that exited the north ditch. The driver had minor injuries and was attended to at the scene. Damage to the Snow SUV was estimated at $7,000.

• On Friday, May 16, an SUV driven by Jose Merced Perez, 39, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Highway 330 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Perez SUV was estimated at $10,000.

• On Friday, May 16, a pickup driven by Megan Ashlie Abeyta, 29, of Galena, Ill., was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that jumped onto the roadway from the median. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Abeyta pickup was estimated at $5,000.

• On Thursday, May 15, an SUV driven by Miew Baccam, 67, of Waukee, was westbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Baccam SUV was estimated at $4,000.

• On Thursday, May 15, a car driven by Chappo Sale Gurisho, 39, of Des Moines, was westbound on Marshalltown Boulevard when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Gurisho car was estimated at $2,500.
