• Casey Martin Cook made an initial appearance on a harassment-second degree charge and a possession of marijuana-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.
• Brian Dean Minear made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge, a possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense charge, a driving under suspension charge, an open container charge and a no insurance charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 8. Bond is set at $5,000 cash. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Jamaine Anthony Simmons made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 in Magistrate Court.
• Velia Misty Ruiz made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. A pre-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 in Magistrate Court.
• Jose Fidel Castillo Alvarez made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge, a leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only charge and a driving under suspension charge. Castillo Alvarez pleaded guilty to all charges. The fine on the driver’s license charge is $260 with a $39 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $354. The fine on the leaving the scene charge is $135 with a $20.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $210.25. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.
• Antonia Tapia failed to appear on a speeding charge and a driving under suspension charge and the court found her guilty. The fine for speeding is $55 with a $8.25 surcharge and $55 in court costs for a total of $118.25. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $37.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $347.50.
• Andrew Dean Barber made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana-first offense charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court.
• Cruz Guevara Gonzalez made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Guevara Gonzalez pleaded guilty and the fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
• Damion Sergio Castellanos made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. A pr-trial conference is set for 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 in Magistrate Court.
• Cassie Ann Bakker failed to appear on a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge and the court found her guilty. The fine is $105 with a $15.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $180.75.
