Man arrested for domestic abuse assault and child endangerment
A Marshalltown man was arrested Tuesday by Marshalltown police for domestic abuse assault and child endangerment.
Christopher Michael Burke, 33, was charged after police determined the defendant pushed and punched the victim, causing serious injury, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court. The defendant was also charged with two counts of child endangerment because minor children witnessed the assault.
The defendant was taken to Marshall County Jail. At his initial appearance before a magistrate, the defendant was ordered held in jail on $5,000 cash or surety bond. The magistrate also appointed the defendant a public defender, and issued a no contact order to protect the victim. The defendant’s preliminary hearing is July 7.
