David Gomez, 24, of Marshalltown and Marco Rico, 21, of Monmouth Ill., were arrested by Marshalltown Police Thursday for assault causing bodily injury.

The charge is a serious misdemeanor

On Thursday, police responded to the UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown emergency department where a patient reported being assaulted by Rico and Gomez at a local tavern in the 1000 block of Lincolnway.

The victim had lacerations on his face from being punched several times by Rico and bruised ribs from being kicked by Gomez according to the complaint.

Gomez and vRico signed summonses promising to appear in court Dec. 27.
