Local dance production coming to the Wieting

The Dance Konnection will be presenting their Bi-Annual Dance Production of “Scrooge Jazz’d Up Like a Dickens” on Sunday Dec. 19 at 3:00pm at The Wieting Theatre in Toledo. Tickets are $10.00 and will be available at the door or at the studio. The production is open to the public.

Watch as over 20 area dancers put a new twirl on the classic tale, “The Christmas Carol.” Ebenezer Scrooge, newly reformed, narrates the story in his own words as dancers portray the scenes in various dance genres set to contemporary music. It’s a fun production for all ages. Watch as Ebenezer’s past, present and future come to life.

“We are doing this production in Toledo this year which we normally do in Marshalltown, but because of the tornado, derecho damages to our theaters and the COVID shutdown we either could not find a theater available, or they were booked trying to catch up,” Director Kimberlee Jo Kups-Benson said. “So we searched around in the surrounding area and discovered the Wieting, which we are so excited about. It’s the perfect setting for our production. This is a production our studio does bi-annually, but with COVID last year, we were not able to do it. So after 3 years of not getting to do this, we are beyond excited.”

Area dancers auditioned for parts in September and have been rehearsing weekly. Original choreography and concept is by Cathy Roe with restaging and additional choreography by The Dance Konnection staff.
