Panthers add Corbin from Kirkwood

Kaylee Corbin

CEDAR FALLS — The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team announced the signing of Kirkwood Community College forward Kaylee Corbin to next year’s roster

A native of Letts, Iowa, the 6-foot-1 junior capped her career at Kirkwood with Iowa Community College Athletic Conference All-Region second-team honors. Corbin finished her sophomore season as the third-leading scorer for the Eagles, averaging 10.6 points per game on 52.4 percent shooting from the floor and 32.4 percent from beyond the arc. Corbin also brought in 6.4 rebounds per game.

Kirkwood finished the 2023-24 season as the NJCAA Division II National Champions with a 69-58 win over Johnson County.

“We are very excited to welcome Kaylee to our Panther family,” said UNI head coach Tanya Warren. “She will bring us experience and depth in our front court. She comes from one of the best junior college programs in the country and was a key piece in Kirkwood’s 2024 National Championship.”

Corbin was an all-state selection in her senior season at Louisa-Muscatine High School, setting the school records for points in a season (465). She was named the Southeast Iowa Super Conference’s Co-Player of the Year.

“I’ve dreamt about going to UNI since I first arrived at Kirkwood,” said Corbin. “I am an Iowa girl at heart and this is where my family and support is. Getting the opportunity to do what I love most, playing basketball, at a school I already loved was perfect for me. There couldn’t be a place better for me.”
