T-R to honor veterans with upcoming salute
T-R PHOTO BY ROBERT MAHARRY Pictured, from left to right, are T-R Advertising Clerk Shelton Coleman, Advertising Director Rhonda James, Marshalltown Central Business District Executive Director Deb Millizer and Marshall County Veterans Affairs Director Kevin Huseboe. The newspaper will feature a salute in the Nov. 10 edition with a portion of the proceeds being donated to a local veterans charity.
As the daily newspaper in the Veterans Capital of Iowa, the Times-Republican has great reverence and respect for those who have worn this country’s uniform and served with honor across all branches of the U.S. military.
Along with running the Marshalltown Central Business District’s (MCBD’s) veterans banners in the paper again this winter thanks to the continued sponsorship of Wanatee Accounting, the T-R will also be running a “Salute the Veterans” page in the Sunday, Nov. 10 edition. For just a $10 donation, of which a portion of the proceeds will be contributed to a local veterans organization in partnership with Marshall County VA Director Kevin Huseboe, your veteran can be honored and remembered with a photo and other information including branch of service, rank, number of years served and campaign served. The page will also run in the three weekly Tama-Grundy newspapers on Friday, Nov. 8.
Readers can also look out for upcoming in-depth profiles on several local veterans in the leadup to Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11.
Photos can be emailed to Shelton Coleman at scoleman@timesrepublican.com. The deadline to submit them is Tuesday, Oct. 29.
