Norwalk man charged with sex abuse in relation to incident on Meskwaki Settlement

Creason

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Norwalk man has been arrested and charged with one count of sex abuse related to an incident that allegedly occurred on the Meskwaki Settlement last month.

According to a press release from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), the charge against Jonathan Paul Creason, 20, is contained in a complaint unsealed Wednesday in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids.

The Complaint alleges that, on or about Feb. 10, Creason went to the victim’s home on the Settlement and had nonconsensual forced sexual intercourse with the victim. Creason is also under investigation by the Ankeny Police Department and Ames Police Department for additional sexual assaults of additional, unrelated, victims. Anyone with information regarding Creason is asked to contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation Omaha Division’s Operation Center at 402-493-8688 and press 0 to be connected.

If convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and five years of supervised release following any imprisonment. Creason appeared Wednesday in federal court in Cedar Rapids and was held without bond.

As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lisa C. Williams and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Meskwaki Nation Police Department, the Ankeny Police Department and the Ames Police Department.

Starting at $4.38/week.
