Gary Lee Wickering, Sr, 71

Gary Lee Wickering, Sr, fondly known as “Whip” age 71, of Albion, left this earthly life on the morning of Saturday, January 11th, 2020 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, to join heaven’s movie theatre of western shows and the best fishing spots. His death came peacefully with family at his side.

Born on February 23rd, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, he was the son of Harry Wickering, Sr. and Eunice Rafferty Kaster.

On April 17th, 1981, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rhonda Brown, in Ventura, Iowa. Whip was employed for 15 years at Stewart Construction and for 15 years at Hay Construction. He enjoyed watching old westerns (his shoot ’em ups) and fishing. He liked them even more when his family would be there.

Whip will be fondly remembered by Rhonda, his loving wife of 38 years; three children- Jeffrey Baumbach (Michelle Much) of Springfield, OR, Amy (Dr. Ted) Bonebrake of Cedar Falls, and Gary (Erin) Wickering, Jr. of Urbandale, IA; grandchildren- Kelby (Johnny Roberts Edmonson) Edmonson of Waterloo, IA, Jacob (Casey) Bonebrake of Cedar Falls and Wolfgang Wickering of Urbandale; siblings- Lou Huff of Dumont, IA, Henry (Patty) Wickering of Mason City and Georgia (Tom) Ashland of Clear Lake, IA and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In death, he rejoined his father Harry Wickering, Sr., mother Eunice Kaster and brother, Leonard Huff.
